Polly's new you

I know that I said that I will not do this, but I did it anyway. Gave Polly a new face and a new hair.

Did it the usual way - making wefts, gluing, waiting and gluing again. I watched several videos, like this one, for an example. I did not have a hair straightener, but I used a thin towel, put the hair in between and pressed with an iron (medium hot) as I slowly pulled the yarn between the towel. The same result. It is so soft and you can style it just with your fingers, but… This red wig is really red and at times it is hard to take photos, because it reflects and does crazy things in different lights. It has been darker outdoors too, with the heavy rain, thunderstorms and cloudy weather. And hubby's smart phone, that he has at work, is so much better handling all these stuff than my older phone.

She still has her cute dress and she will keep it, but I made her a hat out of paper. The bow she had, just did not work anymore. Her face is really tiny, so it was a bit difficult to keep my hands steady and then I had trouble keeping the pens sharp enough. But I am rather pleased with the results, though.

She is a tiny little cutie. Here comes some photos.

"So much fluffy hair, love it!"

Chilling a bit.

"Hey, what is in my hair?"

"You listen now! I am a Princess, with a capital P!"

Wish you all a lovely week
and
an even lovelier weekend ahead!

  1. Awww how cute is she! I love her green eyes and her fiery red hair, it suits her perfectly. Did you paint her eyes, they look very nice. Is she a hybrid of a bjd and one of those little Disney dolls? Whoever she is, I like her and think she's a great little doll to brighten up any dull day.

    1. Thank you so much, Sharon! And yes, I painted her eyes. The head is from those Disney Animators mini play sets. She is...was Merida. The body is an Obitsu 11 cm, so that makes her a hybrid. I wrote a story about her today (link is up on the page, Polly). She is really cute to look at, puts a smile on my face! :)
      Hugs!

  2. She is so cute. Her little smile says it all. The hair is adorable. She looks like she could get out of any trouble by winking at you with those pretty eyes.

    1. Thank you, Dorothy, and yes she surely can get out of almost all kinds of trouble by winking with those eyes...and casting some spells! :)

  3. Aww she looks adorable. I think you did a great job on her face. I still love that smirk a lot! And thank you for sharing the idea about using the iron instead of the straightener. Last time I used a straightener on a doll hair, it kinda wrecked my straightener!

I also love her celebration hat. She certainly is an assertive little princess with a capital P isn't she?

    1. Thank you so much! I do love the smirk, too and I wanted to keep it! It is a part of her personality. She sure is an assertive one! :D
Yes, an iron works just fine and of you have a thicker towel you can have higher levels of hot. I tried with medium and it worked fine, even if I had to pull the yarn a couple of times through. I have messed up my straightener too, it got all sticky and brown. Had to clean it and it was rather hard.

    1. Thank you so much, Musume! I was a bit uncertain when it came to the hair and making wefts. After brushing the yarn it felt like there was nothing left to work with. Gladly her head is tiny, so I had plenty to work with. :D Glad you found a favorite among the photos. :)
