When I started to look after BJD's for many, many years ago, I came across Blythe dolls. There was something odd about these dolls, with their big heads and small bodies. My mind went to those bobble head figures. I was curious, but not in a way that I wanted to own one. I had the same feelings for Pullips and similar dolls.
She arrived to the cottage in her beautiful box, never removed from it.
But suddenly something happens. I went to the site Tradera, a Swedish second hand shopping place like eBay. A gentleman had several adds on his page and among those adds I saw a Blythe. She was a University Of Love doll, released in 2012 and you can read about her here. She is a Neo Blythe, in the size of 28,5 cm and that is about 11 inches. I let my family know and said that there were no bids on the doll and I would keep my eyes on it. I knew that sometimes the bids would come about 10-15 minutes before closing time.
Looking tired after the trip. And no, her light green eyes are not pink around. Do not know what the daylight did. Lol.
That closing time for this add was after 7 PM. I checked and saw one bid and thought 'here we go'. The prize will increase and there is no way I will keep up and she will end up at another home. Such a bummer. My husband said that I should try, just to see if I have any luck. Just do it! I was uncertain, but really wanted her so I went in on the add and made a bid just for 3 dollars more...seconds before the add closed.

I saw the seconds tick and the add close and in the same time a got a message saying: "Congratulations, you won the auction!" That was a surprise and I got so happy. I made the payment and got her some days later. She is my first Blythe and it is really fun to own one.
Road trip on a very hot summer day. I felt as glossy as her.

On a outdoor day in the middle of October. It was still warm and the trees were amazingly green.

Her blue eyes. She has two pair of green (light and dark) eyes and one pair of pink eyes.
Her hair was a bit tangled when she arrived, even or maybe because she's been in her box since she was released. Her face is very pretty, the radiance version. It can be a bit difficult to photograph because of it being so glossy, but maybe I learn something new while trying to photograph her.

When the leaves finally fell. My favourite photograph of her.
I bought some new clothes for her and these arrived some days ago. I have tried them on her and will take some photos and post these later on.
Enjoy your day!

So you finally gave in and bought yourself a Blythe? They can be very addictive so beware Niina!! I only have two of my original Blythe collection left now and these will stay. If you plan on taking lots of photos of her, you may try spraying her face with a matt sealer (make sure you have her eyes closed though).
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,

Yes, I finally did! And I can imagine that Blythes are addictive - because I am already looking for a friend.😄 Good idea with the matt sealer, need to look into that. I really like taking photos of the dolls I have and I should post more on all my social media. Mostly I scroll and look at the photos, save some in albums and then go on with my day.

I like the new clothes you got for her. They suit her coloring. I prefer Pullips, but I know a lot of people don't like the big head look. I didn't myself for a long time. I think it was Ever After High that started changing my perspective.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have been looking at Pullips too, even the ones you can customize, but those are always sold out. When the kids were younger and got themselves Bratz dolls, one relative to us thought those heads were too big for the bodies.😅 Ever After High had a really nice heads, even if they were bigger than the Monster High heads, but it worked compared to the body.
