A very simple comparison

In June I wrote a bit about my Mokashura Duyou, telling you about the heavy head and the difficult joints. Musume commented that she was curious to see how this doll looks compared to other dolls. So I took some quick photos outdoors at the cottage and here you can see the differences.

Some measurements. I have Noomi, Zipporah, a Monster High doll, a 11 cm (4.33 inch) Obitsu body and a ruler, that is exactly 17,7 cm. That is 6.968503937 inches. Just for fun. Zipporah is a Dollmore Narsha, 35 cm. The Monster High doll is approximately 10.5 inch (27cm) tall.

Noomi feels huge compared to the headless Obitsu body.

Noomi was hard to put in this pose, especially with the legs. A mobility type of thighs would have been great.

Noomi's arm do pose very well and she can touch her face, head and have her hands on her waist, but from time to time these arms do as they wish. Pop. I but her arm straight, but she just did not want to do that. Probably a question of stringing.

Zipporah's and Noomi's head-caps. The difference is huge.
Noomi has wigs that are 13 inch and my two Narsha's have 7 inch wigs.

Headless Obitsu body sitting on a mountain....erhm, on Noomi's head-cap.

Zipporah and Noomi, and their happy faces.
Well, that was for today. A very simple comparison. Hope that it gave you a better picture of the sizes. Noomi really is a baby doll sized cutie.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

  1. Thank you so much for this comparison, I remember seeing her before on here and couldn't imagine how big she is...I see she is indeed big, or at least her head and eyes are. I love your Narsha in the tan, such a lovely sculpt but then as you know I'm definitely prejudiced!!

    1. You are welcome! She is big, but her body is perfect in size. I have even thought about an another head, in smaller size. But where should Noomi's head go then? And it would be little bit hard with the large neck she has, too.

It is a lovely sculpt! I was so happy when Narsha came as a tan doll. I was looking for one in tan or one in white skin with darker face up. Lucky me!

  2. Woah. This definitely gives a good size comparison. I didn't even realise how much bigger than a Narsha she was. You could try putting plastic kips in her knee joints if you don't want to glue-suede and see how that goes in posing her. I think you can get it from Dollmore. I do know you can definitely get the kips from Luts as I ordered a whole bunch the other day. Thank you for posting this.

    1. Yes, and yet she is just ca 5 cm taller than Narsha, but with the different body and head size she looks rather huge. And she is heavy. Great idea with the plastic kips. Looked and saw that both Luts and Dollmore have those. When I was at a hardware store just about 30 minutes from the cottage, I found things good to have in this hobby - hooks, steel bars (my Narsha’s have that), styrofoam, strings, magic block (bought that, works wonders), epoxy and even things that can be used as plastic kips. Need to first read more about those first, but I was happy about this find. They mostly come in black (no no) but they have even in silicon, colorless (yay) and in different sizes and even as cuttable.
Great you enjoyed this post. :D

  3. The proportions can give the impression that a doll is bigger than she actually is :-). The photo of the Obitsu body on Noomi's head cap is very funny :-D. Great comparison photos, so many variation! Enjoy your week too!

    1. Yes, it sure can and the head really does it! With a smaller head, it would not be such a (feeling of) large difference. Great you liked the post! :D

  4. It was really interesting to see all the dolls together, I usually have time figuring out proportions just by measurements.
Thought I pass by and say hello!

    1. Hello, hope that all is fine with you! :)
I have some difficulties with measurements, so I often search for comparisons. Even then it can be rather messy in my head. I remember what my drivers license teacher told once - if we had our eyes outside our head, as far apart from as our fingertips are when the arms are straight out to the sides, then we would be amazingly good at seeing measurements. Even if I do not wish to my eyes over there, I do wish that I could figure out proportions and measurements a bit easier. But give a picture, frame or something like that, it is easier. :D

    1. Thanks!
It sure is a teeny tiny cute Obitsu body! :D I remember when I got the delivery of the body and opened the box, I thought that this is really a little one. Used to BJD-sizes, I had some trouble getting the grip of the Obitsu body. Got easier with the head on!
