Some toys

Inspired by several of you and the toys you have, I thought that I could share some of mine with you. The last week at the cottage, I tried to pick the best day between rain, hard wind and a bit better weather (that is the totally gray day) to take some photos. These are just a tiny bit of the ones I have and I hope that I can share some more later on, because it was very fun to 'dust' these toys and think about the memories around them.

So here goes!

These three are called "Mucklor" and they are tiny characters from the Swedish children's book about Pettson and his cat Findus. Pettson is an old farmer, who lives in a small ramshackle farmhouse in the countryside. The first book came in 1984. These tiny characters can only been seen by the cat. I bought these at a store in Kalmar on one of the trips we made there several years ago.

A giraffe and some boats.

My little toy corner, with some tiny treasures found by me on our trips during summer or left by mother in law from her trips. Then you can see some photos of my hubby and the kids. The picture with the teddy and balloons I bought from a local artist where I live. The picture under that one is a cross stitch done by me.

This is Diddlina, a friend to Diddl. She is a jumping mouse and live in a Cheese cave under the flower meadow. This character is created by the German artist Thomas Goletz. This cute one I bought along three different pens. She holds an emerald colored birthstone (May) and I thought she was cute, even if no one is born that month in my family. But I do like green, so that is probably why she came home with me.

This doll is a bit of mystery. But I know that she is one of the toys I have been very careful with and treasured a lot. I have had her a very long time and she may have come to me through my grandmother's cousin who travelled a lot. She was a lot in Russia, the Baltic states and the Mediterranean. She always brought something along.

This is a Forever Friends Teddy. He was a piece in my key chain when I went to school in the early years. He is a bit worn and the keys and chain is long gone, replaced with new keys and chains. The teddy stands under a lamp at the cottage and have been standing there since the middle of the 90's.

Bought these three on a trip during three summers, in an old fashioned toy store. The clown is the latest one. If you press underneath they fall down and look totally limp.

Moomin (The Snork) and some 'Hattifnattar' (the ghostlike creatures, Hattifattener in English). These I got from chocolate eggs as a surprise.
And some pebbles, marbles and treasures from nature.

Piggies, cute and pinkish!

And finally we have some L.O.L Dolls. Such fun dolls. Bought these at a grocery store nearby our cottage. Could not resist.

So, these are some of the toys I have just for fun. These are not in the most perfect condition, but that is not the most important thing. The most important thing is that these fit in a pocket or a bag, I can carry them around and have fun.

Enjoy your weekend! I am off to visit your blogs!

    1. Those mucklors are so cute, who could not love them. In the stories they are everywhere and filled with mischief. They do not like to be disturbed and are very determined and focused when they get an idea they want to fullfil.

I have gazed at some other kinds of dolls too, mostly the collectible ones. Some older ones, almost vintage, with special clothes like cultural. Have just two at home, received as gifts, so it would be fun to own some more. And then there is those Matryoska (Russian stacking dolls) dolls too.

Thank you, I really like my little corner. Under the shelf I have a chest of drawers, with some toys too.

  2. Mucklors seem interesting, I love it that only the cat can see them! :D And the funny old style toys where you press the bottom of their stand and they kinda fall down, I've seen those and they're nice. All of your toys have some you in them. ^__^ Thank you for sharing, I love your little toy corner a lot. So much nice things. <3

    1. Mucklors are interesting, not so bright, but they are funny. Tiny and fast, always up to mischief like hiding socks, moving books and things like that. The old man Pettson always wonder who did this, but the cat knows.

The old style toys, with the button on, is something I grew up with when I was a kid. it was so much fun (I was so easily amused) and when these came back in my adult age, I just had to have some. I have a horse and a donkey at home.

The toys resemble a piece of me, so true. Ones personality is shown and my hubby often says ”this is so you”. :D But I have always collected little things. At my parents place I have some pencil sharpeners with wooden details, can be animals, buildings and so on. And some figurines made in glass.

Thank you <3 , corners like this can be soothing to look at.

  4. Hi Niina! What a great assortment of toys you have there. I love those little pigs, I have a few pigs myself and those jointed animals that fall down were all the rage when I was a child. I enjoyed looking at them all.

  5. What a wonderful posting! I never thought about toys. I always focus on dolls. I am wondering if I have any toys that aren't dolls. I will have to think about that.
I love the Mucklors. I will have to look for those children's books on ebay.
I look forward to your next find!

    1. Thank you so much, Dorothy, great that you enjoyed the post. Toys, especially some tiny ones, are fun and easy to collect. And Mucklors are just like that :) and I hope that you can find some of the books. There are even films.
I wonder what I will find next time. Exciting! :)

  6. What a lovely collection Niina, I really like them and as you say, it doesn't matter that they're not perfect, they bring you enjoyment and that is what's important. I particularly like the three Mucklor characters and also Moomin, but I also like the bright colours of the giraffe, clown and pink....I have seen something similar in a nice toyshop here in Spain too :)
Thank you for sharing these lovely items with us!

    1. Thank you, Sharon! Yes, a toy with the worn look show that someone has enjoyed the toy and it brings memories too.
The shop that I mostly love to visit and have found the mucklors, is a really nice place to visit. It is called Paddington (yes, like the teddy bear). I try to visit it every summer and bring something along. I do like the vintage style and that it is a tiny shop, with the owner being very helpful. This year I found some characters from Moomin!
I am happy that you liked this post! Hugs!

    1. Thank you so much, Musume! And yes, aren't the mucklors just so cute! I could not resist buying them, even if they are tiny and there is always a risk of dropping them somewhere to never be found again. So far they have stayed in there place. :) I had a big thing for Forever Friends and their teddies in the late 80's and in the beginning of the 90's. I even have a t-shirt, that a friend sent to me. That t-shirt is still in good shape and I use it from time to time, as a pajama t-shirt. :D

  8. Such wonderful toys! I love toys as well, especially some of the older toys from my childhood or even older. It's so much fun remembering back!
I wish I had kept all my old toys. I used to have so many barbies and My Little Ponies. XD

    1. Thanks, Lise!
Oh, my little Ponies! I do remember these ponies - my sister's daughter had them and even my own two kids (they were more into My Littlest Pet Shop and once they counted the ones they still have....and lost their count around 117... o_O ) had some. Have been playing with those (ponies and pet shops) several times. And even Barbies. I had a big box at my parents place with toys. Saved some from there for myself, gave away some to kids in near family or friends. I'm glad to have some left of my toys, but I do miss some of the toys I had.

    1. Pettson and Findus has always been a favorite at our home. Read a lot of those stories to the kids when they were little. And Diddl was a crazy thing over here in Sweden and we all wanted to have the figurines, the stationery, the pens and tiny note books. It was a hunt every time. There is not so much of Diddl here at the moment. It is mostly "Top Model" Girls and those pens and papers, with stickers and coloring pages.
      Thank you, hugs! <3
