How was 2019?

With a distance to the year that went, I wanted to look back to the good moments and see what happened and how my doll collection changed during that year. Had of course some plans for a year ago - but never mind those. I will dust them of and see what I can do this year. Inspired by Xanadu’s post I wanted to share with you some happenings from 2019.

An old photo of Bella.
Who came home?
In March a Hairdorables: Kat came home with me during a shopping tour in the city. She is a little cutie with a lot of hair, but I was not so pleased with her lips. Had and still have plans to do a repaint. She had a lot of props along in the package. Very nice. Later in the summer I got a gift from my daughters, another Hairdorables: Bella. She is adorable with her gloria and wings.

Mai, in her fluffy hat and shoulder shawl.
Well, in May I was browsing the shopping places, similar to eBay here in Sweden - Tradera. Made a search for BJD, just for fun. Found a Resinsoul Fei and just clicked on Buy now-button. Could not resist. And I have not regretted this at all. She is so beautiful with her sleepy eyes and elf ears.

And of course she borrows a wig. Now she has her own body, Esmé.
I got a new body for my floating head, Esmé, a Narsha Zihu. Finally she is complete, after some crazy tries with making one bad body out of clay. Have not given up on that, but need to think it over a bit more.

Kitty cat Genevieve.
After a long wait, a very long wait, my little Catish Doll arrived on the doorstep. So beautiful and perfect. Had been waiting, paying of the layaway and now she is here with me.

Moved to a new home.
My two Barbies moved too.
Who left?
During the last months of the year, I started to sell some things I had just to clean up and get some funds. My special edition Beatrix Potter Barbie got a new home, my curvy fashionista Maeve left the building and so did even some of my L.O.L dolls. Saved one, the first and the cutest. My huge collection of Smurfs got new homes, but I saved four, my favorites. Have plans to look through my stuff and let some other smaller things go.

Asta and Pavel, an older photo.

Sewing and stuff?
Not so much would be the perfect description for this. I made one larger project, Asta, a Monster High doll turned into a blind bunny. Made some mistakes during a repaint and had to figure out something instead of putting the doll in a closet. Made some clothes for her and a story too. About a year ago, I repainted another Monster High, to a sleeping cutie. The last thing I made was a shoulder shawl for Csilla and Mai. Made even a crocheted hat for Mai.

Waiting for?
Made an order in the beginning of December 2019 and it is still (well, have waited longer, so I should just chill) before shipping. So in 2020 there will be a doll arriving. Probably the only one if nothing extraordinary will happen.

To be continued, as they say.

  1. So not too bad a dolly year all round Niina, I think the icing on the cake in 2019 was your beautiful Kitty Cat Genevieve, she is really stunning. You know what will happen now you have said: "Probably the only one", don't you? I know I should learn to keep my mouth shut, because everytime I say: "No dolls this year", I find in the blink of an eye, dolls begin chasing me home. LOL!
    Big hugs,

    1. A rather good doll year and I agree with you, Genevieve is really the icing on the cake. I am so happy to have her. And the thought has hit me - how does the other Catish dolls look like? :D There really is no "the only one" in this hobby, right! :D Well, in a year we will know. LOL.
      Big hugs!

  4. We love recaps, don't we? It looks like you had an awesome 2019 overall (except the arm injury) and you got some lovely dolls. Your OOAK dolls look fantastic, I wish I could customize some dolls myself. Genevieve is just stunning, probably my favourite amongst your new dolls.
I should probably consider letting some dolls go aswell, the space avaliable isn't unlimited, but I'm still not ready.
Hope you have a great weekend.

    1. We sure do! Dolly-wise it was a great year, but the arm injury really messed it up. Cute dolls give energy and heals the soul. The other part I trust my physiotherapist on.
Thank you, I am pleased with my OOAK dolls, especially these two. It is good to test and try on vinyl dolls and if you are not pleased, you can wipe it off and start again. Have had many of those tries.
Genevieve is stunning, thank you, need to take more photos of her. At the moment the weather is not with me!
It is hard to sell dolls, there is always something special with them. It makes a little hole in the dolly heart letting some go.
      Enjoy the new week ahead!

  5. Cheers to a new doll year! If someone would have asked me before this post about doll arrivals, I would have said "nah, not so much news there!" But this way I can see, it was a good year!
