Genevieve and machines

Improving the road to the lake for heavier vehicles.

Hello there! How are you doing? Hopefully having fun with your dolls and enjoying your life. It has been some busy weeks and months over here. We had our girls' friend over from Portugal. She has been here, at our cottage, before and this time she stayed for five weeks. The girls had some adventures, went to exhibitions and enjoyed their time by the lake. During June and July we had some workers over to cut down a lot of trees, improve our gravel road to the lake and do some road work at another place about 10 minutes from our cottage, by car.

The tractor looks rather 'dead', but it pulled up some of the heavy machines to the work place.
The truck is picking up some sand for the road. All is happening next to our cottage.

Bentley checking things out. We got a new parking space after the
workers left. They were kind enough to make us one, when we asked.

The new area is a place that my husband's uncle owned before he past away last year. Today it is my husband and his three cousins that own the land, and together they decided to use the land for a recreation place - walks, bicycle...and maybe one day when all is done even for BBQ and a new place to swim at. But that will be in the future. The workers came around 7 in the morning and left by 4 in the evening. They made a lot of noise and the first week they woke us up. But the next week we got used to it, even Bentley. He could sleep (!) in the garden while they worked.

Some timber

The new road, coming along nicely.

Bentley really likes the new place.
In this process he got a new friend too, a black labrador named Freja.

There is some work left to be done. By our cottage they are done, but at the new place the road is is need of improvement after all the trucks have picked up the timber. We have got new gates too for the roads and will get some signs for speed limits and warning signs (that I probably will make myself) for the drivers, so they keep an eye on our Bentley. He is a good boy and stays near the cottage and we have a fence for safety, but sometimes I have him loose when I walk him.

So, when the workers left their machines on our yard or somewhere near I took Genevieve out for a photo shoot. The machines made a great background for a delicate little (!) cat doll. Could not resist. Have not had her out of the box for a while, so I thought it could be time for that. I should make her some new clothes too. Here comes some pictures. Enjoy!

  1. Hello Linda and I agree, it is going to be a great space for recreation. We have some relatives who like to hike, so it will be perfect for them too. :)
Thank you, I made the dress for her. Got the fabric from my daughter and it was perfect for Genevieve.

  2. Hi Niina! Genevieve looks so lovely and delicate next to the machines. If someone woke me up at 7 a.m doing construction, I would get so cranky. But I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. Having a space to walk around and swim sounds like a dream to me.
Wish you a lovely rest of the summer.

    1. Hello and thank you, it is a rather nice contrast between Genevieve and the machines.
I am no early bird, but sometimes it can be nice to wake up early and enjoy the nature and silence. But the machines were loud and dusty. Now we can drive to the lake and at the new place we will be able to walk the rest bit to that lake. Probably next year, but it will be nice when it is done.
      Enjoy August!

    1. It has been a good summer so far and some of the timber trucks are still picking up timber at the craziest times. But it is a good thing. :)
      Bentley says "HI! back!
      Big hugs!

    1. A lot of work, yes. And we still have some more work to do when the snow is gone.
Thank you, Genevieve is lovely with a different background.
