Spring time, odd time

Usually during Spring and Easter week, we pack our car and drive to the cottage. But this year, with borders closed and that it is not allowed to drive between cities, we have stayed at home. Covid-19 has spread a lot and we have had our first case of the virus in our little town. We are still allowed to go out, but we need to keep our distance. Big gatherings are not allowed at all and you can only socialize with them who are healthy and that you usually socialize with during the day. That makes it just down to my family, the rest I keep in touch with in other ways.

Zipporah on a windy day.
Polly searching for some herbs for her drinks and spells.
Shoes for my Resinsoul Fei, named Mai.
Shoes and Pearls.

Mai, with a new face up and lashes.
Made her a new dress too.
During Easter vacation I spent a lot of time with my dolls, listening to audio books, doing my physiotherapy for the broken humerus and chatting online with near and dear. I have even been talking to others with broken humerus, to get some support and give back to them, too. It has helped. Took some short walks with Bentley during times that I know that many dog walkers are at home. It is very silent.

Happy Bentley and a frisbee. He has been running free in a closed area.

One year old. Sticks and twigs are fun.

Bentley (the one sitting) and Dante, the best friend.
On the 16th April Bentley had his birthday. He is one year now and we have had him for 10 months! It is amazing, he is such a bundle of joy even if he can be a handful at times. He still is seen as a puppy for at least 6 more months and some Golden Retrievers never ’grow up’. He is just a happy puppy. All is fine with him, we had his check up last week at the vet. Even the vet followed the restrictions - one animal with one owner in the check up room and the rest outside with distance between. No greet and meet between dogs and owners.

The Covid-19 really affects us all, but I am glad that I can share my latest with you through my blog and read about your happenings on your blogs. I hope that you are staying safe and doing the best you can with this situation. Hang in there and stay strong.

  1. Nice to read your blog Niina, I'm glad you're doing well with the social distancing. I adore your Zipporah and your Mai is such a cutie! All photos are delightfull to see. Your doggy, Bentley, so much fun! :D <3

My daily life didn't change much otherwise but even more scrubbing and avoiding people. Few weeks before Covid-19 hit hard, I had to cancel a holiday to Northern Ireland to visit my sister and to see my parents in central Finland so I'm really bummed about that. Otherwise everyday life continues like always. I'm working normally, just way more washing hands and desinfectant everywhere. My hands are looking prettty rough already. What makes me nervous is travelling in public transport that I don't have much of a choise. *sigh*

We're all trying to cope the best we can. I'm glad there are hobbies at home and maybe some butterflies continue flying after the cold weather goes away again. :) I'll also try to update my blog sometime soon. Stay safe, all good to you and your family. <3

    1. Thank you so much! :) It felt nice to take some photos of some of my dolls, even if it is just nearby where we live. Bentley is a cutie, but even he misses the running in the forest.

The scrubbing and disinfectant have really made my hands dry. Often I forget to use moisturizer so it starts to itch. Not fun. And not visiting relatives and cancel plans, like your trip to your sister and parents, is hard. If we need to go somewhere, shop for groceries or similar, we walk or take the car. We do not want to travel with the public transport. It is scary.

Hobbies keeps us sane in these times. :) Hope you see some butterflies. Have seen several here, so beautiful. And some bugs too. The big spiders are interesting, but creepy. Spring sun wakes them all up.

Stay safe and greetings from us to you! <3

  2. Thank you so much Linda! He is a very cute and kind dog, wants to be friends with everybody.

When I made my first shoes in the beginning of this hobby, they turned out a bit too small and looked like misshaped slippers. Many tries later they started to look like shoes. Now, almost 8 years later, I still have some trouble with the patterns. The soles are easy, just draw the shape och the foot, but the other things are a bit harder. But practice makes it better.

Mai’s lashes are a tiny piece from fake lashes to humans. Took the shorter parts and they fit perfect. I had one pair from earlier shopping sprees that I could use. No one shops in stores these days. And shopping through internet is a good way, but with borders closed it is not sure you get the stuff you order.

This recovery has been a rough journey. The doctor said it would take time and I should at least (!) count 12 to 16 weeks before I can let go of the brace. I have no brace during day time, but at night I do, just for safety. Still sore and can not get the arm up all the way, in any direction. But it works.

Good to stay positive and active. Stay safe! Big hugs!

  3. Hi Niina,
It's good to see your pretty dolls again. Zipporah has always been a favourite of mine, she is so pretty. Polly is a cutie and I love her smirk. :) You are getting better with your shoe making, I can see you are mastering the technique very well now.

I cannot believe how much Bentley has grown, and wonder just how big he'll be by the time he's no longer considered a puppy. He is such a handsome dog. :)

We have been really fortunate her in Australia that we haven't seen many deaths from Covid 19, and I really feel for all you living in Europe. It must be quite frightening when you read that someone in your own town has contracting it. There is some relaxing of the rules in some states here, but where we live things are still pretty strict. I hope you and yours all stay safe and healthy.
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. Hello there! Thank you so much, it was fun to take some photos of the ’oldies, but goodies’ like Zipporah. Poor Esther is still in a box, need to pick her up soon so she can get some air. :) And shoe making gets more and more fun when the technique gets better. Would like to crochet some soon, like sandals for summer days.

He is a big boy now, our Bentley. Saw some old photos of him when he was new in our home. He was so tiny that I could hold him in my two hands. Now my two hands just cover his fluffy face. Can not carry him and when he comes running in all happiness, i sure need to stand steady on the ground. He is strong too. But he is kind and wants to play with everyone!

We get daily reports on deaths from Covid-19. The latest were about 80 people in a day. It is a lot for our little country. It gets so close when the virus hits our town. The first reports came from a town nearby and the source was a person at a work exhibition where many young went to, including our youngest daughter. Gladly she did not get any, but during that time it was a bit nervous. I would like that things would be a bit more strict over here, but taking our own steps can make it far enough to keep many safe. So we are doing okay.

      Big hugs!

    1. It feels good to be back on track, when it comes to health. Hope that we can soon be back to normal in the environment. There are new warnings for the coming summer and plans.
Bentley sure is a dog who spreads happiness.
      Stay safe!

  5. Bentley is such a handsome young man, Retrievers are often puppies forever, aren't they! I used to have a Yellow Labrador and one day would love another but we shall see....living in such a small home now, I'm not sure it would be a great idea to have a big dog again!
I'm happy to see your lovely Narsha, as you know I still have my own girl here, my oldest BJD!
I'm glad to hear that you're keeping safe and well, long may that continue.
    Big hugs from Spain xxx

    1. Thank you, he really is a handsome puppy and I wonder if he will be one of those that will be a puppy for ever and ever. :D And he is a big dog too, Have noticed it when he wants to sit in the lap. Labradors are so cute too. So much joy with them too. But they need room. Maybe one day you can have another labrador again.
It was great to have my Narsha along. Hope to pick up Esther from the box one day too. She is my oldest BJD. Narsha is a perfect little cutie.
Feels good to slowly start be back to my normal self, even if my arm can be a bit stiff now and then.
      Big hugs!

  6. Beautiful photos. I think Easter this year for everyone was very different to what is normally done. Bentley is looking less like a puppy each day. It's amazing how fast they grow. He is such a beautiful dog. I think having animals during this Covid lockdown helds too. I find that I miss my cats so much since we've been confined to the house since March. Let's hope that things begin to improve soon and that we can start to get back to our normal lives.

    1. Thank you! It really was a different Easter and I think that the summer will be in the same way. We have got warnings about that and guidelines to stay home instead of traveling between home and cottage or two cities.
He has grown very fast and when watching the old photos or videos from the beginning, you can see the difference. I could hold him in my two hands the first weeks. Now his head fits in my hands. :D Big boy. I can understand that you miss your kitties and I agree with you - animals help during this lockdown. We can only hope that this slowly starts to change to better and back to our normal lives.
      Stay safe!

  7. Hi Niina! Your photos look always so pretty. I like the one with the pearls, it's such a creative composition. And Zipporah has such a beautiful hair. I do agree, this situation affects us all, and I hope this situation makes people more compasionate and less selfish.

    Take care.

    1. Hello there and thank you so much! I always love to play with the little things I have nearby or that brings some inspiration.
Zipporah's wig was a 'mistake' that ended up very well. I did order a straight wig in the same color, but got an one with curls. It is so much her, so she will keep it! :)
I hope so too, that people come more compassionate and less selfish from this.
      Take care! <3

  8. Thank you for continuing to post through these very challenging times. I find that I hold on to my doll friends even more so now. I chat with them on the phone and through email. I read doll blogs and re-read old doll magazines. It is what keeps me sane.

Zipporah is very pretty. What kind of doll is she? I am kind of new to the BJD world. I only have one so far an Iplehouse BID (Baby Iplehouse Doll).

    1. Hello Dorothy! Had some trouble with comments on blogger, but I hope that this is sorted out now!
Zipporah is a Dollmore Narsha in tan skin. She was limited to 30 dolls and there is a boy too. The doll is named Narsha Trouble Max. The girl is sould out.
Dolling in anyway really keeps us sane in these time! So thankful for dolls and friends!
