Summer thoughts

So cute! A print screen of the site at kilala.fi
While sitting in the sun or in the shadow, in our garden, I have been thinking about dolls. Well, when do I not think about dolls? I have even been walking around in the forest just to find some places to have a photoshoot of my dollies. Then I have been surfing the net too. Since I had some thoughts about getting a doll with some different look, but still a doll matching my crew, some water has run under the bridge. A lot of water. I still have that dream, but as usually I have added on.

One of my friends took a trip with her daughter to Helsinki and Kilala. They came home with a cute Pullip doll and since then, after seeing her photos, I badly want one. And as usually, my hubby asked how these kinds of dolls will suit my crew, because they look so different. I had really no answer to that, more than "I want one!" Haha, we got a good laugh about that.

I told him later on that these dolls are different, but in a good way - as Blythe. I mostly want a "Make it own kit", to learn. I think it is an easy way to learn about other brands like this. I have been looking at videos to see how the eye mechanism works, for both Pullip and Blythe, and how to work with the face ups and carving. This is something that interest me.

Oh, well...my other list of dolls - with dolls from Dollmore, Souldoll, 5Stardoll and other cute places are still alive. One of the dolls on that list, an Alex Doll Lenticula Alexia, is sadly sold out. And the "Make it own-kits" are sold out too. But I know that these kits will soon come in....

....until then I will keep on dreaming, watching and learning....

  1. I love pullips!!! I've been so close of ordering one so many times that I lost count! MIO kits are great because you spend less and can get a custom doll and add the rest of things later~ That's what I plan to do if I ever decide to jump in to it!! And don't worry, MIO kits are stocked regularly, at least on online shops, not sure in local stores, since there's none in my country that carries them on a regular basis.

    1. Yes, aren't these dolls adorable! I think that a MIO kit would be a great way to start and really make it ones own. And if something goes wrong, it is not so much in cost, so that would not hurt so badly.
I visit this little Finnish shop regularly, just to see if they have the kits in. Right now these are for the visitors and their workshop, but new ones are coming in, yay! :D

  2. Hi Niina,
I can understand the "need" for another doll to add to your doll family, but I actually sold my Pullip and Blythe dolls because I didn't like their lack of posing positions. They are easy to customise and less expensive to buy, which is a good advantage.

Another thing that enticed me to move the Blythes on, was my husband really hated them, so I do hope your hubby is more understanding about these dolls.

    Hugs,
    X

    1. Hello Xanadu! It is a good advantage with the cost and that these dolls are easy to customize. I have looked at different photos of these dolls and they have a lot like a Barbie-body, rather stiff. Wondered if a obitsu body would do the trick, or even a neemo body. Read a wonderful comparison post (https://projectdollhouse.com/2015/10/02/comparing-the-different-bodies-for-blythe/) and thought that a body like that would be great.
Lol, my hubby can understand that these dolls interest me, bud he thinks that it is big change to the ones I have, the BJD's. Our girls think that they look a bit scary with the big heads and in some way big eyes. o_O

  3. I think it's a great idea ^^ Pullips are super cute, even if they're not for me. I like how other people can do incredible things to them :D
If you end up with one, what do you plan on doing with it? :3

    1. Thanks Nikki! I have seen so many cute customs on both Pullips and Blythe. So far I have been using Monster High or Ever After High dolls to learn face ups and so on. This would be a great step up, to learn more.
If I end up with one, I would probably in the beginning just stare and wonder. Then I would do a face up, get a matching wig, make some horns in fimo clay and dress her in lace. :D She would be that adorable little one from the upper woods with so much love and patience to others. Maybe even a magical personality..... *dreaming* .....
